Mailing Labels

Topics This Page
Sample labelSome campaigns like to appeal to small groups of voters in their district.  Frequently, this is done as a targeted mailing. For example, one campaign manager who does business with us likes to target individual precincts with a letter of endorsement from local activists who are well known in their respective neighborhoods or precincts.  Using a mail house is cost prohibitive for a small household mailing, so it is much more logical to just put labels and stamps on the mailer and send it First Class.  This is just one of the ways campaigns use labels to more closely target small groups of voters using First Class mail.

Besides your choice of demographic selection criteria, you can have the labels sorted in any fashion you need, for instance, by zip code or by precinct.

We can send you the data in either of two ways: as a data file or as a PDF label file.

Label Data Files and Formats

Generally, mailing label data is consistent with ordinary mail files. The following fields constitute the normal label data file:

  • First name
  • Last name
  • Suffix
  • Address1
  • Address2
  • City
  • State
  • Zip

Data files can be created in most data formats you might need:

  • Microsoft® Excel®
  • Delimited Text
  • DBase
  • Microsoft® Access® (additional charge applies)

Because most mail merge programs seem to have an easier time using the Excel format, we recommend that you order the data in Excel.

PDF Label File

This method avoids the campaign having to process the data file through a mail merge program. On the downside, not every printer is going to produce the results you need to accurately print out the labels. We suggest that you download the two files below and make sure the labels will print correctly from your printer.
